I recently read my first post on Medium. I didn’t know the platform. Let alone that you could make money out of it.

I opened a profile because I wanted to write about stuff I care about.

Emotions. Thoughts. Art. Humanity. Politics.

I think that’s the missing part in any authenticity tip. You still can’t be you if what you are writing is what you believe other people care about.

Honestly, I spent a lot of efforts finishing two pieces that I «knew» would fit into big publications and well, they didn’t outshine the other stories.

As in life, there are persons who are really good at understanding other people’s needs, uncertainties and feelings. They easily become popular.

And there are people who build their lives on connecting on a different emotional level. They’re slow-grower and often selective.

I’m not passing judgments, both categories are full of awesome writers.

Yet, we need more honesty on how success has no recipe.
