The contribution of everyday items, like buildings and streets, in the build-up of history and in the education of masses should really be reconsidered.

History in the making is in the acknowledgment of past mistakes and in the highlighting of martyrs, heroes and positive people.

I believe this is a wonderful initiative and I'm really happy people went on the line for it.

In the small countryside village I lived when I was a teenager one of the main streets got renamed after a native woman who was brutally killed during a humanitarian mission in Burundi. To this day, it is unknown why she got killed and believed she stumbled on something which upset national security, even though a "crazy man" took the fault for it. Journalists reporting otherwise got incarcerated.

These initiatives look like fighting on tiny details, but they help the world become a better place. They help people reminding facts who are fundamental in the development of a free thinking and a better society.

I'm really happy to know about it, thank you for your writing.
